By the time it arrived, I had my food and neglected to take a photo. Nancy also ordered a Small Spinach Salad ($7.00). Indeed, Nancy actually liked it a lot, and I can see why based on my small taste. She mentioned it to the server, and I’m pretty sure that neither the server nor anyone else there had ever had someone complain of too few vegetables. Nancy enjoyed it, and only complained that it was light on the promised carrots. It had an appealing flavor, rich and meaty. Nancy ordered a bowl of their Burnt Ends Stew ($9.50). I demurred, as the guys didn’t didn’t seem like much to me. (I forget the prices, but they were reasonable.) Nancy commented that all of the servers were attractive, and that it must be a job qualification. Nancy had a glass of wine and I had my usual cocktail. We sat and ordered drinks while we perused the menu. The moral is, as the Great Man said, “ It don’t cost nothing to be nice.” Our rivals decided to take a chilly table outside, which they subsequently abandoned, and we got the seats. The couple at the table saw this, decide that the interlopers had been rude, and dug in for a long stay. We started to move over and another couple darted in front of us and said, “We got here first.” Okay. No table was available, but a couple was about to leave their seats at the bar, and they gave us the high sign. So rather than get back in the car and drive all over town, I picked the closest place on Doug’s list, Jack Stack, a short walk from our hotel (the Courtyard Country Club Plaza, a bit dated, but then so am I). Normally I’d chalk that up to my legendary fecklessness, but reservations at a barbecue place? I had entered a new world. I’d had various recommendations from Doug Jacobson, the Kansas City Barbecue Maven, but it was Saturday night and, I’d neglected to make any reservations. There are now a half dozen Jack Stacks in Kansas City, and Nancy and I went to the one in the Country Club Plaza. His oldest son, Jack, worked there until 1974, when Jack opened up his own place, Fiorella’s Jack Stack. Russ Fiorella started a barbecue place in 1957. If you look at a list of the ten best barbecue places in Kansas City, you’ll almost certainly see Jack Stack listed. Then, after a quick pork sandwich at Boxer Q, we drove straight to Kansas City and set up shop at a hotel cheek by jowl with the Country Club Plaza. The morning after our great dinner at Porky Butts, Nancy and I headed to Topeka to compete another 10K state capital walk, our 41st.

Unfortunately its sound quality is really poor in comparison with the others so you must take your choice, sound quality vs discovery: if you are just listening on bluetooth headphones through a phone then maybe you wont notice the difference but if you have any kind of hifi setup that you want to stream your music through then all their competitors have much much better sound quality. Where Spotify comes into its own is for discovery of new music: it's fabulous, streets ahead of the competition. All the streaming services have a broadly similar catalogue of music. But… give both Spotify and Apple Music a go. I listen to Classical mostly and while Apple has the same catalogue as Spotify, the search function is dismal - often incomplete and just plain wrongly catalogued. (But if that is your thing, then by god, Apple will help you fill your needs. Spotify understands/has learnt I don't want to or need to listen to Hip Hop/Urban whatever that crap is that Apple keeps suggesting to me. It is not possible… I have had Spotify for many years and cannot fault the suggestions of new music etc. I come in from outside listening to something on Spotify and it picks up and continues on my Mac. Main thing is I can control Spotify on my Mac by using the iPhone app. This is a terribly unpopular opinion to express here on MacRumours, so I am braced for the usual incoming hate mail/death threats/fatwahs etc… IMHO, Spotify is much better than Apple Music. I’d hate to put even 3 free months into making playlists and gathering song just to find I don’t like it. How does Spotify compare to Apple Music? I’ve never dived into it. That’s right – you won’t earn too many medals by doing things on your own, but may earn more by doing things with friends. Kill Shot Bravo has a definitely social element to it, and that comes into play when you’re trying to earn medals, which are like the game’s premium currency. You can also take out the enemy snipers, as they often serve as your greatest threat head shots, long distance kills, multiple kills, and VIP kills can all get you some extra points. Winning Assault MissionsĪs for the assault missions, you can win them by aiming for the explosive barrels, as we said in our first set of tips and tricks if you’re able to hit one successfully and accurately, you can cause a great fire that could wipe out a wave of enemies in one go. Again, time does slow down when you bump into one of these men, and you should make good use of those few seconds to kill the knife men before they can even stab at you. You’ll also encounter enemies who are armed with knives and could quickly and repeatedly stab you. It’s not just guns you have to be alert about in breach missions. Watch Out For The Knives In Breach Missions Too The Hand to Hand perk increases the slow-mo time in these missions, so you can consider that for your next purchase if you haven’t yet. The thing here, though, is that you need to make sure your weapon is properly upgraded.Īfter you blow up the door, the game will crawl at a slow-motion pace for a couple seconds, and you’ll want to take advantage of that by using that time to aim, and maybe even go for the kill. You will need a shotgun in these close-combat missions, which are generally easier than assault missions to accomplish. How To Succeed In Breach Missionsīreach missions are one of the better ways for you to earn extra money easily. Upgrading its barrel and ammo is also useful, as that would allow you to improve your sniper rifle’s range and damage respectively. Upgrade Your Sniper RifleĪlways make sure you’ve upgraded the zoom level and accuracy of your sniper rifle, as that’s going to make it easier to take out rival players. Also use both thumbs when sniping your left to adjust the scope, and the right for the fire button. That’s your cue to make yourself elusive so you don’t get taken out easily. Now if your opponent is using their sniper scope to home in on you, you will see a tiny flash of light. You’ll see it filling up as you get closer to your target, and when it’s fully filled up, the scope symbol will turn blue, which means you’re in good position to fire away. So how do you succeed in sniper duels with other human players? First thing you’ll want to do is to check your scope meter. You’ll also be racing against the clock here, which makes accuracy and speed equally important. Basically, PvP sniper missions entail finding and killing another human player’s character before they get to you first. You are, after all, facing up against other human players. Kill Shot Bravo comes with player-vs-player mode, and many argue that this is the real fun of the game. If you enjoyed our first set of Kill Shot Bravo tips and tricks, you’ll like this one even more, as we’ve got twice the advice, not only for newbies, but also for experienced players. We’ve probably given you enough of a primer to the game, so let’s not waste any more of your time. There are over 200 missions covering all sorts of terrain and all types of enemies, and you can also control vehicles that could change things drastically and spell the difference between victory and defeat. Kill Shot Bravo, which is available for both Android and iOS devices, is the premier first person shooter experience for mobile gadgets, and in this FPS, you’ll get to arm yourself with different kinds of weapons and wear all the latest military gear as you penetrate enemy lines and take part in combat missions. We have already tackled Hothead Games’ new game Kill Shot Bravo in depth, but why not roll out another set of tips and tricks for all you mobile gamers out there? We’ll get to that soon enough, but before anything else, here’s a quick run through of this game. So if you buy our Kamo VPN and then later buy the AVG Antivirus for PC, you may find them using the same container "key" (albeit with different entitlement expiry dates underneath). However, this common licensing system is shared across Avast, AVG, HMA and Piriform/CCleaner. And if they want more devices and/or 24x7 live premium technical support and/or the Kamo VPN then they upgrade to CCleaner Professional Premium, rather than buying a collection of individual products, So this whole "container" concept doesn't really come into play, except to make registration, renewals, and upgrades more convenient. If they later want CCleaner Professional across multiple devices then they upgrade to CCleaner Professional Plus (3 devices). Most people just stay within the CCleaner Professional family - if they just want CCleaner Professional for one device then they buy CCleaner Professional for Windows, Mac or Android. Likewise if you were to then add Kamo as a separate stand-alone product, it should also use the same key that you already had, albeit with a different expiry date. So, when all goes as it should, if you upgrade from CCleaner Professional to CCleaner Professional Plus under the new system, you don't have to mess about entering a new licence key - the existing one contains your upgraded entitlements. Most notably, these keys are now for an account rather than for an individual product entitlement. The other main source of confusion was that customers would collect multiple licence keys over the years, and forget which ones they were using on which machines, or which related to what product.Ī couple of years ago we started to phase out the old system and bring in a new licensing system, where the keys have 20 characters instead of 24 and are easier to enter. One of the top support contact drivers was customers entering their registration information incorrectly (the keys could contain the letter "I" which was often mistyped as a "1", the customer name had to exactly match and you would be surprised how many times customers would forget what name they originally entered when purchasing, etc). The old CCleaner licensing system used unique licence keys for each purchase (the 24 character ones that started and ended with "C" for CCleaner Professional for Windows and CCleaner Professional for Mac and started with "P" and ended with "F" for CCleaner Professional Plus and the CCleaner Premium bundles). A key may work across multiple products, but not until you buy them. The keys are not individual licenses as they used to be, but rather a "container" for product use entitlements across multiple products and brands. Note that if you had not cancelled your old subscription, but still upgraded prior to your billing date, the old subscription billing would have been automatically cancelled anyway to avoid double-billing (so you wouldn't have needed to go through the step of cancelling your old one first). The licence keys/activation codes are absolutely identical. If you proceed with taking out a new CCleaner Professional Plus subscription (to cover both your PC and your android phone) prior to the expiration date of your old licence in April, your new licence will be credited for the remaining time on your old licence ( Will I lose any time on my subscription if I take an offer to renew early? – CCleaner Support). It looks like our support agent Kevin also cancelled your subscription renewal for you at that time as per your request. When you contacted CCleaner customer support on Sunday evening asking to cancel your subscription renewal I can see that you did so under your registered email address (thanks for that - it makes sure that you are automatically identified as a CCleaner customer so that you can get answered faster) and received a response 3 hours later at 01:40 am Monday morning. Please note that all they do is to forward your requests to us - so it is quicker to contact CCleaner customer support directly. Looks like you initially contacted Cleverbridge customer support on Friday afternoon. I contacted them, but I never received a reply This high level of functionality actually has a positive effect. A free VPN service with 5GB data volume per week is heavily advertised, but, you can only select the location in another country for an additional charge. Whether this provides more security, however, is difficult to verify.Īvast One Essential offers several dozen more functions than the other free app. In addition, Avast offers a module called Web Protection, which checks network access and immediately blocks the accidental downloading of malware, for example. In order to be able to check files, a virus scanner must install some background programs and needs access to the file system – both of which are specially protected by Ventura and the user must be active here.ĭuring installation, the user must allow the installation of the extension via the system setting “Security & Privacy” in addition, they must also allow hard disk access and allow the filtering of network content.įor uninstallation, a special uninstallation program is required, which can be called up via the menu bar command “Remove Avast Security” or, in the case of the other version, “Uninstall Avast One”.Īs with any full-fledged antivirus program, a guard program checks every hard disk access Avast calls this function file protection. Installing a virus scanner is cumbersome, but that is not Avast’s fault. Unfortunately, an antivirus program cannot be installed under macOS as easily as an app from the Mac App Store. In general, the tool offers good compatibility with macOS. On a Mac with an SSD, however, this is hardly noticeable in practice the current version of Avast we tested had no effect on system performance. They began production on the iOS version on December 7, 2010, with the intention of a "2012/2013 equivalent" of the original. The company sold the Flash game to a browser games website in 2010 but kept the rights to produce an iOS version, which they would call Ridiculous Fishing. Nijman immediately drafted the design, which never changed. Vlambeer designer Jan Willem ("JW") Nijman developed the idea based on a television show about tuna fishermen that led him to consider an intersection between catching big fish, slow-motion photography, and Duck Hunt 's game mechanics. The game was designed with a feedback loop, where performance in one minigame led to a more rewarding experience in the next minigame. It was built to take "everything good" from habit-forming browser games without artificially extending its length just to hook players. Vlambeer developed Radical Fishing, an Adobe Flash-based game where a fisherman sits in a boat and casts his line into the water, pulls up fish into the air, and shoots them with a gun. There is also a Fish-o-pedia in Billy's smartphone that gives gameplay hints and tracks stats such as fish caught, which is the progress for unlocking new levels. Earnings can be spent in a store towards persistent upgrades such as longer fishing line length, invulnerable drills, frivolous hats, bigger guns, chainsaw lures, a hair dryer and toaster (to zap inadvertent catches), fuel for the chainsaw, and a necktie for greater income. There are four stages, each with its own visual and audio theme and rare fish, and an endless mode where players can work towards the highest score. Shooting jellyfish detracts from the total income. The fish differ in characteristics including swim pattern and the number of shots required. Above water, the fish are launched into the air, and the player taps the screen to shoot the fish out of the sky to earn money before they fall into the water. Upon hooking a fish, the hook ascends and the player tilts the device to catch as many fish as possible en route to the surface. The player casts the line and tilts the device to avoid the fish as the hook sinks. The game mechanics consist of three minigames: casting the fishing line, catching fish, and shooting the fish in the air. The player fishes in pursuit of fame as a fisherman named Billy. A 3D remaster of the game developed by KO_OP, titled Ridiculous Fishing EX, was released on Apple Arcade in July 2023, 3 years after Vlambeer went defunct. Reviewers noted Vlambeer's struggle against the copy of their game and praised the game's balance and both visual and game design. It won an Apple's 2013 Design Award and was their iPhone game of the year. Ridiculous Fishing received "near-universal perfect scores" at launch -what review score aggregator Metacritic describes as "universal acclaim". Artist Greg Wohlwend moved in with iOS developer Zach Gage to work 14-hour days on the game. The team worked on other games and spoke publicly about the situation to a standing ovation at the 2012 Game Developers Conference before resolving to scrap the majority of their work and finish the game. A year after Vlambeer began their iOS development, Gamenauts released Ninja Fishing, a clone of the game. The game was first released as a Flash game Radical Fishing with the same basic mechanics. Players then touch the screen to shoot fish out of the sky for money that can be spent on upgrades. Players cast a fishing line into the ocean and use motion controls to avoid fish as the hook sinks and to catch as many fish as possible as the reel retracts. The game was released for iOS on March 13, 2013, then later that year for Android. In the game, players use motion and touch controls to catch fish and subsequently shoot them out of the sky for cash. You may need to take advantage of this because eventually it becomes very difficult to collect enough fish to buy new power-ups.Īir Penguin looks nice, is easy to control and fun to play.Ridiculous Fishing is a fishing video game developed and published by Vlambeer. Air Penguin even has its own store where you can buy more fishes with real money. These fish can be exchanged for power-ups that can help you progress through levels. Story mode is played out over a series of levels, in which you need to reach the fag to proceed, while Survival is all about avoiding falling in the icy water for as long as you can.Īs well as trying to get to the end, you should also be collecting fish along the way. The are two different game modes in Air Penguin: Story and Survival. This varied gameplay helps keep Air Penguin interesting for a long time, and it's just as addictive as that other great bird soaring game, Angry Birds. Besides just jumping, Air Penguin also sees you ride turtles, skate across ice shelves and even fly along on the breeze. When Ralph is excluded from his game's 30th-anniversary party, he decides to win a medal, believing he will be respected for doing so. One evening, Wreck-It Ralph, the villain of platform game Fix-it Felix, Jr., visits a villain support group called Bad-Anon, expressing frustration with his assigned role. Whenever Litwak's Arcade closes, the video game characters leave their in-game roles and socialize via a power strip called Game Central Station. A sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet, was released on November 21, 2018. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing $496 million worldwide against a $165 million budget and winning the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature, as well as receiving nominations for the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Wreck-It Ralph premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on October 29, 2012, and went into general release on November 2. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch, the film tells the story of the eponymous arcade game villain who rebels against his "bad guy" role and dreams of becoming a hero. John Lasseter served as the film’s executive producer. It was directed by Rich Moore (in his feature directorial debut) and produced by Clark Spencer, from a screenplay written by Phil Johnston and Jennifer Lee, and a story by Moore, Johnston, and Jim Reardon. Wreck-It Ralph is a 2012 American animated comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.
